Conversatorio sobre la declaratoria del Canal Nacional como Área de Valor Natural de la Ciudad de México
La Dra. Marisol Arellano, Daniel Lugo, el Lic. Rocha y Edmundo López de la Rosa, integrante del Proyecto Wolrd Monuments Fund Canal Nacional, activistas ambientalistas que han trabajado por años a favor del Canal Nacional, fueron invitados por la Alcaldía de Coyoacán, a través del del Lic. Obdulio Ávila Mayo, Director General de Gobierno y Asuntos Jurídicos, para comentar los alcances y beneficios de la declaratoria del Canal Nacional como Área de Valor Ambiental.
Se expusieron diversos puntos de vista y alcances de la misma declaratoria, así como del reconocimiento de otros activistas como Daniel Ávila Acosta y Alejandro de la Vega, quienes todos en conjunto han luchado a favor de esta declaratoria.
Un punto central fue que se le extendió una atenta invitación al alcalde Giovani Gutiérrez para que pudiera tomar la iniciativa, acompañado por organizaciones de asociaciones civiles, a convocar a la Alcaldía de Iztapalapa y al Gobierno de la Ciudad a través de la Secretaría del Medio Ambiente, para trabajar de manera institucional y solidaria en dos temas centrales de la declaratoria: el “Programa de Manejo del Área de Valor Ambiental, con categoría de Bosque Urbano, denominado Canal Nacional” y la integración de su Consejo Rector Ciudadano.

Conversation on the declaration of the National Nacional as an Area of Natural Value of Mexico City
Dr. Marisol Arellano, Daniel Lugo, Lic. Rocha and Edmundo López de la Rosa, member of the World Monuments Fund Canal Nacional Project, environmental activists who have worked for years in favor of the Canal Nacional, were invited by the Alcaldía of Coyoacán, through the of Lic. Obdulio Ávila Mayo, General Director of Government and Legal Affairs, to comment on the scope and benefits of the declaration of the Canal Nacional as an Area of Environmental Value. Various points of view and scope of the same declaration were exposed, as well as the recognition of other activists such as Daniel Ávila Acosta and Alejandro de la Vega, who all together fought in favor of this declaration.
A central point was that an attentive invitation was extended to Alcalde Giovani Gutiérrez so that he could take the initiative, accompanied by ONG’s, to convene the Alcadía of Iztapalapa and the City Government through the Environment Secretariat. , to work in an institutional and supportive manner on two central issues of the declaration: the "Management Program for the Area of Environmental Value, with the category of Urban Forest, called Canal Nacional" and the integration of its Citizen Governing Council.
